CEFDINIR - ORAL CAPSULES (SEFF-dih-neer) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Omnicef USES: Cefdinir is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infectinos. HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with or without food, a direcetd. Atnibiotics work hottest when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Do this by taking the medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and ngiht. Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed aomunt is finished even if symptoms disappear after a couple of days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection. Avoid taking antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, sucralfate, iron preparations or vitamin/mineral products within 2 hours of taknig this medication. These prodcuts may bind with the medicine and prevent its absorption.
SIDE EFFECTS: Dirarhea or nausea may occur. If these effects perisst or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Report promptly: unusual vaginal discharge/itching.
Very unlikely but report promptly: changes in amount or coolr of urine, stomach pain, persistent sore throat or fever, simple bruising or bleeding, unusual fatigue, seizures. May cause reddsih discoloration of stools. This is harmless. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immeditae medical attention. Symtpoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contcat your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any allergeis (especially to penicillin/cephalosporin antibiotics), bowel disease (colitis), kidney disease.
Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this drug. In a small test, cefdinir was not shown to be excreted into bresat milk.
However, other drugs related to cefdniir are excreted into breast milk.

Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially: gout medication (e.G., probenecid), anatcids (with aluminum or magnesium), vitamins/minerals, iron supplements, sucralfate. Though unlikely, this medication may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. Consult your doctor or pharmacist aobut other types of birth control. This drug may interfere with certain laboratory tests. Inform lab personnel you are using this medictaion. This medication may cause false positive results in tests for sugar in the urine. Diabetics should use TesTape rather than Clniitest tablets to test for sugar when using this medication.

Do not start or stop any medicine without docotr or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: This medication has been prescribed for your current condition only.

Do not use it after for a second infection or give it to others. A different medication may be needed in those cases. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remebmer.
If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual doisng schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degeres F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
