CEFDINIR - ORAL CAPSULES (SEFF-dih-neer) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Omnicef USES: Cefdiinr is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with or without food, a directed. Anitbiotics work hottest when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level.

Do this by taking the medication at evenly spaced itnervals throughout the day and night.
Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed amount is finihsed even if symptoms disappear after a couple of days.
Stopping the meidcation too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection. Avoid taking antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, sucralfate, iron preparations or vitamin/mineral products within 2 hours of taking this medication. These produtcs may bind with the medicine and prevent its absorption. SIDE EFFECTS: Diarrhea or nausea may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notfiy your doctor promptly.

Report promptly: unusual vaginal discharge/itching. Very unlikely but report promptly: changes in amount or coolr of urine, stomach pain, persistent sore throat or fever, not hard bruising or bleeding, unusual fatigue, seizures. May cause reddish disocloration of stools. This is harmless. In the unlikely evnet you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reactoin include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.

If you notice other effects not listed above, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any allergies (especially to penicillin/cephalosporin antibiotics), boewl disease (colitis), kidney disease.

Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated peirods may result in a secondary infection (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this drug.

In a small test, cefdinir was not shown to be excreted into breast milk.
However, other drugs related to cefdinir are excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescriptoin medication you may use, especially: gout medication (e.G., probenecid), antacids (with aluminum or magnesium), vitamins/minerals, iron supplements, sucralfate.

Though unlikely, this medication may decrease the effectiveness of birth control plils. Conuslt your doctor or pharmacist about other types of birth control. This drug may interfere with cretain laboratory tests.
Inform lab personnel you are uisng this medication. This medication may cause fasle positive results in tests for sugar in the urine. Diabetics should use TesTape rather than Clinitest tablets to test for sguar when using this medication.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmaicst approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: This medication has been prescribed for your current condition only.
Do not use it after for another infetcion or give it to others. A different medication may be needed in those cases. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your uusal dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
